Lost Pines 2010

This past weekend, we met our good friends the Caseys at the Lost Pines Hyatt Resort near Bastrop. This was the first time for Nico and Trey to meet and they hit it off. These two are very similar in personality, and I think they will be good friends for life!

The guys met their freshman year in the dorm at A&M and then shared a house.

After an afternoon of fun in the sun, the boys had watermelon and Pringles for a snack. It was the first time that both boys tasted Pringles, and of course, they couldn't get enough! They loved reaching their little hands (arms) in the tube to pull out a stack of Pringles.

The resort had a great water slide that Nico insisted on riding over and over again.

All smiles after the slide!

Our attempt at a family picture.
Nico was hungry and not happy. After this picture, we went to brunch and he ate more than we have ever seen him eat. He devoured an entire kid's meal of two scrambled eggs, two pieces of bacon, toast and banana, then he moved on to our sweet potato fries. Needless to say, the kid was hungry!

In the golf cart on the way to brunch.

Pony rides!

Just two little men sharing a conversation on the porch.
Wouldn't you love to know what they are saying?

1.5 years plus

Oops ... I never got around to doing an 18-month update, so we'll call this one 1.5 years plus.

We have one active, stubborn, curious, and sweet 20-month-old on our hands. He is definitely a handful but so much fun! I can't believe that in four short months, my baby will be two years old. I am trying so hard to slow things down, but it just isn't happening.

At 20 months, Nico
  • has a vocabulary of about 20 words, not including those we can't translate (some recent words include nana for banana, apple, eye, eggs, book, and poo poo);
  • loves puzzles, Fireman Sam (a British cartoon), balls, swimming;
  • is helpful - helps unload the dishwasher, puts on his sunscreen, cleans up, snaps his seat belt;
  • can snap his fingers;
  • is obsessed with shoes (shooz or shoozes);
  • has 14 teeth, about to have 16;
  • loves bike riding with daddy (pats his head to indicate he wants to wear his helmet and go for a ride);
  • has a tendency to throw everything;
  • knows where his eyes, nose, ears, bottom, toes, and mouth are;
  • loves, loves, loves giving kisses (when asked and spontaneously ... so sweet and juicy!);
  • can throw a category 5 temper-tantrum;
  • is stubborn and knows what he wants (like his daddy);
  • is very active, but cautious;
  • asks to hold our hand in public (I know this won't last forever);
  • is still very attached to mommy and is very aware of strangers;
  • is shy around new people, but is a ham once he warms up;
  • has several favorite possessions that go almost everywhere with him (blankey, monkey, lizard and orange shovel);
  • is a picky eater (doesn't like many fruits and veggies ... is a meat and potatoes man);
  • is the love of our lives!

Uncle Brandon Visits

Uncle Brandon came to visit and brought his sweet girlfriend, Shawna. The whole fam met at the Grist Mill for dinner and had a great time catching up. It was the first time we have seen Brandon since Thanksgiving. He' s super busy being the executive sous chef at Grace in Ft. Worth.
