Mini-Trips

Nic took a few days off of work, so we took a couple of "mini-trips." We stayed near Austin and visited Lost Pines Resort in Bastrop and camped at Canyon of the Eagles in Burnet. We'd like to take a longer trip and go further away, but it was hard enough getting everyone packed and on the road to go an hour away. Eventually, we'll figure it all out and won't feel like we are taking the house with us. Right?

Mini-Trip 1: Lost Pines
We stayed at Lost Pines with our friends the Caseys when Nico was about a year and a half old and loved it, so we decided to go back. The resort is beautiful and it is made for kids (big and small).

Each night, they have marshmallow roasting on the big fire pit.

 Nico loved his smores!

He also loved the water slide and went over and over again. He even went once all by himself!

 All smiles!

Love this picture because it shows Nico's adoration for his sister, but she's not having it. And, notice daddy's hand reaching in to rescue Liv.

Mini-Trip 2: Camping at Canyon of the Eagles

It was so hot when we arrived that we had to hang out in the Airstream until it cooled off. Nico and Liv didn't mind. They enjoyed a movie and a snack.

Our little camper loved the outdoors!

Best BIG Brother

Nico is an amazing big brother. He is absolutely in love with Livi and tells her every day. He says, "I love you baby sister,"  and then he gives her a hug and kiss. Melt.My.Heart.

Nico was so proud to give Liv a bottle of milk. He was beaming ear to ear.

Nico likes to keep a watchful eye on his sister and enjoys keeping her company during tummy time. He also knows what is best for sister and has no hesitation telling me. He often tells me not to put the blanket on baby sister's face and asks me to help her when she cries. (Great parenting tips from a 3 year old. Now, if he could only tell me how to get her to sleep through the night.)

Sweet Story: Nico was playing with his toys in the living room, Liv was in her swing, and I was occupied in the other room. I heard Liv crying and headed into the living room. When I walked in, Nico was laying on the ground near the swing singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. When I asked him what he was doing, he said, "I'm singing to baby sister."

I got sister out of the swing and next thing I know, Nico is crying. When I asked him what was wrong, he said, "I don't want baby sister to be sad." Now, I was almost in tears! How sweet is he?!?!

Then, we had a chat about how babies can't talk so they cry, and aren't actually sad.

Nic's Birthday Weekend

Janny and Aunt Char came to Austin to celebrate Nic's birthday. We had a fun time at Guero's Taco Bar as evidenced by this picture. Nico couldn't wait to dig in, Char is excited about her margarita, Liv decided she didn't want to be left out and wanted to eat, too, and Janny is camera-ready!

After lunch, we strolled down South Congress and got snow cones.

Livi loved her Aunt Char and was sad to see her go.

First Mother's Day as a Mother of Two

Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide to forever have your heart go walking around outside your body.

I had a wonderful first Mother's Day as a mother of two! Wow ... so hard to believe that I have two beautiful babies. I am so lucky!

One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish

Nico got a fish aquarium for his room! Here he is picking out fish at the pet store.

Feeding time!

Proud owner of five fish!
(Unfortunately, we have already had a casualty.)
