New buddies

This weekend, Nico met two buddies that are sure to be his friends for life. Two of my best friends from childhood, Alison and Trisha, have adorable little boys. Alison's son Hudson is three and absolutely precious and hilarious. Trisha's son Carter is four weeks old and as sweet as can be. Both boys' names are their mother's maiden names.
It will be interesting to see what kind of trouble the boys get into as they get older. If they are anything like their mothers, they will be angels!

Sweet Carter

A pretty, pretty princess shower

Ali, one of my best girlfriends from high school, is due to have a sweet baby girl in April. I am so excited because she will be the first little girl in our group of friends, as all the kiddos now are boys. On Saturday, we had a beautiful baby shower for her full of frilly pink dresses fit for a princess.

(Notice how crooked Nico is in the wrap, yet he was completely happy and asleep, so I didn't dare move him. He was totally tuckered out at the end of the shower.)

Peter ... You made the blog!

Peter and Jen, thanks for stopping by. It was great to see you!

Two months old

Yesterday, Nico had his two month well-check and we have a very healthy boy. Our guy weighs in at a whooping 13 pounds 3 ounces (90th percentile)! Hard to believe that he was three and a half weeks early and weighted only 5 pounds 11 ounces. He is 22 inches long (25th percentile) and his head circumference is 40.2 cm (55th percentile).
It is amazing how much our little Nico has changed in two short months. Each week is a new look and a new lesson.

Currently, Nico likes:
baths
kisses
cuddling and sleeping on top of mommy or daddy
watching fans and lights
listening to lullaby renditions of The Beatles and The Eagles
hanging out in the swing
dancing (constant moving)

Nico dislikes:
getting dressed
being alone
being still
getting into the car seat

We love you Nico!

Meeting the Great-grands

Last weekend, we took Nico to Corpus Christi to meet his great-grands (Nic's grandmother and granddad). Nico was great and really loved his grands and all the attention they gave him. We feel so blessed to have them in his life!

Thirty

Baby DeeDee - February 2, 1979

I turned 30 yesterday. It was a day that I was dreading for quite some time, but I have come to realize that 30 isn't so bad. I have a lot to be thankful for and life is good.
It is hard to believe that I am a 30-year-old married mom with a career, house and pets. Seems like just the other day, I was dancing on my dad's feet or playing dress-up with my mom. Thanks mom and dad for being the best parents a girl could ask for.
I have so much to be thankful for and hope that the next 30 years are just as great. Thank you Nic and Nico for making my life complete. I love you!

Nico gave me a stroller for my b-day so that we can go on walks together.

Chunky Monkey

Our little guy, who was born at 5 pounds, 11 ounces has almost doubled his weight in less than 8 weeks! I took him to the doctor this week because he has had a cold for almost two weeks (He's fine...just your common cold.) and he weighed in at 11 pounds 5 ounces! The doctor asked if I was secretly feeding him cheese and meat. Here he is sleeping with daddy.

The Many Faces of Nico

Nico has been smiling since the week we brought him home ... in the video at the bottom of this post, he's mimicking Nic's smiles. In the past few weeks, Nico's smiles have gotten bigger and are filled with emotion. He's also looking at us with faces that make us laugh ...
