Pumpkin Carving

This year, Nico's interest in carving the pumpkin was minimal, which is no change from last year. (Why am I surprised? He's not even two! I guess I've always liked carving pumpkins and wanted him to share in the fun.)
Nico thought the pumpkin insides and seeds were gross and didn't want to touch them. Oh well ... there's always next year.

Checking out the inside of the pumpkin.

Trying to move the pumpkin.

Inspecting the seeds.

Happy with the final product!

Lake Travis

The fall weather in Austin has been fabulous! One beautiful fall Sunday, we hung out at Lake Travis with our friend Laura, who is visiting from Switzerland. We had a great time, and Nico got to ride a jet ski for the first time!

Loving the boat ride!

Windy!!!!

Getting ready to take off on the jet ski. Nico wasn't sure what to think, so he just sat still and faced forward.

Having fun and a bit more relaxed.

Tool Time!

A few weeks ago, Nic & Nico participated in a kids' workshop at Home Depot. Together, they made a message center with a bulletin board, dry erase board and hooks. The project required me to stay on my toes because all tools (hammers, nails, etc.) were the real deal ... no Fisher-Price hammers here. Nico had a great time swinging the hammer around and pounding the table. He even got a pint-sized Home Depot apron, but refused to wear it.

Shoes!

Nico looooooves shoes. It is one of his favorite words (shooze or the plural shoozes). He is always asking us to put his shoes on, take them off, change them, tie them and on and on. Sometimes, by 10 a.m., he'll have already made a shoe change. He also tells us what shoes he wants us to wear. Maybe he got his love of shoes from his mother?

He'll even wear wooden clogs from Belgium!
