Liv got to attend her first wedding at only 10 days old. Nic's college roommate Caton married Stephanie at Callie Kate horse ranch in Buda. Nic was Caton's best man and did a great job with his speech.

Janny & the Easter Bunny Visit

Janny stayed with us for a few days to help after Liv was born. We all enjoyed her visit and her lasagne!

 The Easter Bunny came!

Our attempt at a family picture ... Liv is only four days old, so no judging! This cracks me up because we are a mess! I'm trying to hide my fat post-pregnancy self behind Nic, and Nic says he looks like a bum. Nico is tired of taking pictures and just wants to eat his Easter candy.

Welcome to the World Liv Emersyn!

Liv's Birth Story

On Friday, March 30th, at my 34 week appointment, I had my doctor check to see if I was dilated. Since Nico came early, I had a feeling that I would deliver early again. I was 1.5 cm dilated, but the doctor said that since this was my second baby, I could start dilating early but not necessarily go into labor early. Given the way I was feeling, I had a hunch I wouldn't go to my due date.

On Saturday, my friends in Austin threw me a baby shower, and on Tuesday, I had another baby shower at work. Isn't this how it happened last time? Baby shower = baby the next day

That night, I went to bed tired but didn't think I'd go into labor the next day. At about 4 a.m., I woke up to go to the bathroom and cramps began. I knew from my experience with Nico (exact same thing happened) that this was it, but I was kinda in denial. I got back into bed but couldn't sleep. Nico woke up crying around 5 a.m, so I rubbed his back and he went back to sleep. By now, I was having full on contractions. I woke up Nic, and we started to pack bags and get everything ready for the hospital. (Of course, I didn't have a bag packed.) At around 5:45 contractions were 7 minutes apart.

We dropped Nico off at school around 7:45 and contractions were now about 4 minutes apart. We checked into the hospital, and at 8:30, I was 3 cm. At this point, contractions were still bearable, so I made a few phone calls and settled in.

As contractions got stronger and closer, I debated whether to get an epidural. I was scared to get the epidural and scared not to. What to do? I decided that since I had done it once without an epidural, I could do it again. Shortly thereafter, the pain intensified and was excruciating. I was 7 cm dilated and told the nurse I felt the need to push. She said that since I was only at 7 cm, I wasn't ready, but it would go fast and I could push soon. Little did I know how fast it would go. I literally went from 7 to 10 in minutes! The last bit of "waters" came out and contractions were one on top of the other with no rest in between!

I don't think the nurses expected me to progress that fast, as they still had to call my doctor. Thank God my doctor's office is in the same building. I HAD to push and the nurses were telling me to wait for my doctor. Crazy! I started to push and my doctor sprinted in. Three or four pushes later, our sweet baby girl was born at 12:01 p.m.

Although she was five weeks early, she was perfect! We call her our non-premie premie.

Happy birthday Liv!

So in love!
