Hudson Visits

This weekend, Hudson and his mom and dad came to visit. We had a great time and enjoyed watching Hudson and Nico play together. Hudson will be a big brother in a few months, so he got in some good practice.

Nico let us know that he was not ready to go to bed. He wanted to stay up late and play with Hudson.

Walking!

Nico has been walking for the past couple of weeks, so I should have posted this sooner, but every time I would pull out the video camera, he would stop walking, drop to the ground and crawl to the camera. Finally, we distracted him outside and got video.
It has been so fun to watch the joy in his face while he walks around. He is so proud of himself and he thinks it is so cool to walk like everyone else.

Aggie Hoops

We recently took Nico to an Aggie basketball game. He had a great time watching all the action, but we did have a hard time getting him to stay put. He wanted to check everything out and say hello to everyone around us. Much different from the last time we took him to a game at three months.

After the game, we walked around campus and showed Nico where he'll go to class some day ... hopefully!

New Year's Eve was low-key and relaxing for the Cauwes. During the day, we followed our little man around while he had fun on his new trike that Nonni & PopPop gave him for Christmas.

Later that evening, we had dinner at a local bar-b-que joint with some of our friends; followed by drinks and a game of Cranium at our house. Overall, it was a great New Years! Definitely different from the old days of staying out late and partying like rock stars, but there's no place we'd rather be. We loved it and wouldn't trade it for the world.

Owie!

Almost forgot to mention the owie Nico got the day after Christmas when he took a dive onto the hard tile. No blood, just a swollen lip and a blood blister. The tough guy only cried for a few seconds and then was off to finish exploring.

Here's the best pic I could get ...

Christmas in Corpus

On Christmas day, we headed to Corpus Christi to visit Nic's family. Nico had a great time hanging out with Janny and loved seeing his great-grands who he hadn't seen in so long!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas this year was a lot of fun and so special for us. We loved seeing everything through Nico's eyes -- I think Nic and I had more fun than Nico. Such a joy to watch him play with his new toys. He wasn't super interested in opening the presents, but once we opened them, he was ready to play!

On Christmas Eve, we went to Nonni and PopPop's for dinner and presents. Before opening presents, Nico ate yummy homemade tamales and tortilla soup. He loves his Mexican food! Unfortunately, we probably waited a bit too late to open presents because Nico was ready for bed. (Lesson learned ... open presents first, then eat!)

We are so lucky and blessed this holiday season.
